Loves Retreat ( another of the Battle series)
By Ophelia
I left you standing on a crumbling fortress wall,
head held high,
wondering if my name you would call,
I rode on,
through the night we traveled,
my heart turning to stone.
Our wills clashed
a war of honor issued,
all of my hopes you dashed.
At the sight of my fallen fortress,
towers crumbling down,
I knew I would never feel your gentle caress.
With silent tears I scream,
questions of why,
we could have made an unstoppable team.
If I were the treasure you sought,
only with kindness,
could I have been bought.
Demands and orders you gave,
on my pride you stepped
I would never have been your slave.
So I travel
to a kingdom of sorrow,
as my dreams unravel.
In a months time,
I shall return,
to right this loves troubled crime.
My army will grow,
my cause is of great honor,
and my heart you shall never know.
So take one last look
at my retreating force,
For I will regain all that you have took.
Dare ye not sleep,
for images of my soul,
still haunt my fallen keep.
My final stand I will make
with sword in hand
Love I must now forever forsake.
