Insanity Consumed
By Methos
I cried for weeks, wishing death
Weeping, waiting for my last breath
I’d pierce my soul, with various blades
learning blood comes in a variety of shades
no longer human nor a man, I have died
no emotions within me, nothing inside
I see the picture now, the portrait….
…..Your violated body lay upon the ground
Stillness swarming, a lifeless mound
All the strength gods would give me
Couldn’t break the bonds to free me
They left you there for display
A portrait, of my everlasting dismay
I couldn’t fathom life without you here
I am weak now, consumed with fear
Hiding from my demented conclusions
Forced to live within altered illusions
I see life fading from me slowly
Creating nightmares so unholy
Embraced within the portrait….
…..The mirror stood tall, yet shattered
Reflecting clothing, torn and tattered
Your eyes searching for salvations shrine
Finding only the hatred within mine
With your last breath you cried to me
A portrait now, I will forever see
I searched for days, months, and years
Finding nothing to satisfy my tears
I tried revenge upon those who inflicted
Hate became a drug, to which I was addicted
Searching for souls to reap death upon
Clearing a path for darkness to spawn
Sacrificial offerings, to an eternal portrait
Leaning into delusions of grandeur,
I slipped, I fell
Missing deaths icy grip,
Landing in a living hell.

"Hate became a drug to which I was addicted" That line struck me. This reminded me of a movie I was watching the other day...He was trapped in a portrait...excellent poem.

Wow...that's such a blah comment. Ahem...let me try that again. The flow in this was amazing. Your ending wrapped up the poem in this neat little bundle of goodness. Overall...amazing work. :)
