...How to kill a poem

Don’t love
In the end it will kill everything within
Burdensome is time past, too soon
A bonfire of love extinguished
By cancerous waters
Clears out the fodder of meaningless things
Beckoning thoughts
Our futile nature of short existence
Cut shorter by disease
Amputated by injury
Leaving fractured souls picking up the pieces
A puzzle that will never be whole again
No words to comfort losses beyond reason
Wishing only that it was I that was leaving
Don’t love
In the end it will kill everything within
Burdensome is time past, too soon
A bonfire of love extinguished
By cancerous waters
Clears out the fodder of meaningless things
Beckoning thoughts
Our futile nature of short existence
Cut shorter by disease
Amputated by injury
Leaving fractured souls picking up the pieces
A puzzle that will never be whole again
No words to comfort losses beyond reason
Wishing only that it was I that was leaving

Thank you...I feel I am the ashes of once powerful thought, now just blown away by the lost thoughts of yesterday
