Persecution

By FlowMyTears

I had a nightmare where
all I could hear was laughter
and the gnashing of teeth.

They looked at me like
jackals, and claimed the world
didn't revolve around me.

They stood in a circle,
pointing their fingers, and
making demands.

The shackled prisoner is
pushed around in an orange
jump suite. I see this while
paying a speeding ticket.

It's all a game that no sane
person would like to play,
where fame and honor are
dictated by the size of your
wounds.
