...Sandcastle Empires

By SolApathy

Sandcastle empires upon the beach bold
Standing in defiance of a world, cold
Immaculate beauty of burdened details
Thoughts drift upon the winds tail
Toothpick sculpted spires
Beckon wishful desires
Dreams of being one with this castle scene
Never seeing the impending doom of an ocean’s scream
Society oblivious as they focus on the frivolous
Tight jeans and revving screams of rocket-car extremes
Blind to the chaos entwining end our naivety brings
Sandcastle empires are our legacy
Washed away-- brevity of our human strife
Cuts us cleanly from this fleeting life
Waves of time cleanse vestiges of our futile resistance
Empires forgotten as they dissolve despite our persistence
Extinguished is our existence

Beautiful! This reminds me of a song I wrote. The sands of time, wrought into a meaningful poem that will at least live on the internets for a while. And our minds :) Scholar
