Bed of roses

By molock

Bed of roses

it's been a longtime,
since I've seen the fire
in your eyes.
when we're together,
i know there's someone
else on your mind...

i saw a rose,
over by the roadside.
i picked it for you,
...got a thorn in my
pride.
i heard a sparrow
and it's lonesome
cry...
the sky turned black
...then our love died.

one more time
'round the sun.
still not over you,
feel the bite of love.

did you give up on
me?
did you give up on
love?
did you break down
when push came to
shove?

lying here is so
lonesome,
wearing a crown of
thorns
in this bed of roses

and if i break down,
...would you give me
one more chance at
love?
and if i lay down this
crown of thorns,
...baby would it be
enough?
with my hands bound,
...this bed of roses is
burnin' up.

one more time,
'round the sun.
still not over you,
feel the bite of love.

did you give up on
me?
did you give up on
love?
did you break down
when push came to
shove?

It was the repeated verses that gave depth to this entire poem and made it what it is: Stellar! ... sis Dev
