...Desires of the Devoured

By SolApathy

I am the wicked balance of your life
Call me strife, pain, callous rain
I am the bane
Brokered into existence, I am resistance
Troubled and trying
I am the roadblocks you are finding
I smile in secret desire
Your pain is my fire
Ire and defeat
Feed my soul—I reap
I am the thoughts that torture your sleep
Deep in your core
-Questioning your values until they are no more
Twisting the illusion of my fire
I whisper into you, my own desires
You will stoke my fire
Together we will become one
I devour your humanity and you didn’t even see
You are no longer, and never will
…Be

Many of us are our own worst enemy and it starts with the things we tell ourselves. Nice write. JD
