Pauper's Oath

By Lab Rat

I used to spill
Like cheap liquor
Waxing poetic, Waning nostalgic
I used to quell
Like gun metal

I could catch a few stars
In my prime
Hold onto them here and there
Lost in their mysteries
I could wish, once upon a time
Fading justice, even if a truce
Cease fires and settlement

Even if for a moment

Where peace and quiet was gold
Silver and copper
Diamonds
And a smile meant more
Than my weight in promises

I used to spin
Like broken records..

I used to shine
Like villians
Like paupers

I've read this a few times today. Every time I finally feel in ready to comment the words vanish. Just know this is one that I'll keep coming back to.
