Scar Tissue

By Phalanx

I take my guts back from where they took sanctuary
In hopes to die.
We wait for nothing when the ground grows cold so fast.
Time is not on our side.
I raise my hands and ask for a better life,
The path is set.
Get tough or die, I heard through the smoke
From the tongue of an angry sky.
I will pick up my fathers armor,
The shield I wear closer than skin and
The sword is my compass
Remember, God is watching.
Something changed and I survived.
The suit keeps me in one piece,
The skin keeps me alive.
