...Too far

By SolApathy

Down below the darkness I never knew I was
Always believed I was above
high in the sky I travelled to places I thought I’d never see
Became someone I never thought I’d be
Now I know the darkness far too well
Too far gone to repent
Too far black to resent
Decisions I made for us
Best of intensions
Taking another step I walk this road
Alone
Knowing you see only a disease
I can’t come back
All that is left is the blackness and scars
I’ve left in my wake
Smoking one last cigarette
Sitting on a cliff
Under a darkening sunset sky
Trying for just a second
To picture how and why
All that left is black
How I ended up so far away
I could never get
…Back
