Rain-kissed Lips
By Deathkitten
I walked out the door
with a cigarette in my hand
I lit it & inhaled deeply
exhaled with a sigh
as cool droplets of water
fell from the swollen clouds
onto my face
I tilted my head
upto the dreary sky
I could hear the roaring thunder
and see the heat flash
before the lightning struck
through my blank brown eyes
As rain kissed my lips
I felt an urge to cry
but in the storm I didn't
and I have come to realise
the reason mother nature
released the rain upon my face
was to soothe the pain I felt inside
to touch me with her grace
and stand at my side

A personal baptism of sorts, we forget our places in the food chain sometimes until reminded by an angry Mother, cheers! Very peaceful and satisfying, thanks Jess!

You described the scene so well, and yet it has a slightly surreal feel to it all, something that makes it feel all the more serene.

One of my more tranquil moments, this is basically, me giving the description of the weather (beginning of a storm) and being in a negative mood, wanting to release it, but not doing so because I had artificial tears given to me by nature (as if she did it for me). Like "one with nature", so to speak. Thanks for reading.

Incredible piece! It's kinda funny, this is the second really well-written poem about rain that I read this morning and your piece sorta captures the sentiment of the comment that I just left on the other one. A cleansing rain. Beautiful.

Yeah, that's what poptart said. It's like I say, in photography, nature gives you much to capture & it's always beautiful...well some are disasters, but it brings the people together. It can be relaxing, refreshing or really scary. Thanks, Shangri :)

It can be very refreshing, but sometimes it can be a bit excessive here & become annoying. Glad I could take you to a happy place haha thanks, Todd :)
