Thresholds

By Sean Mc Shane

I walked  thru the door you had left open
into a hall of mirrors you call your heart
where cracked reflections of a distorted me
watch shards drop as frames fall apart

I tried to search for your true center
but I must've waited far too long
the light that followed me blinded you
and your shadows became too strong

they covered our dreams in black tar
after you presented them framed in polished gold
you whispered about a beautiful world to come
same one you had already sold

to the silhouette in your shaded mind's window
the one who keeps your spirit fading in
over the graveyard of lost loves
that is now your sacred garden of sin

well I hope you two will be happy
in the dungeons of forgotten hate
And I never meant to lie to you
when I said you were my soulmate

you had the chance to be happy with me
if you had simply chosen it, but no never
now I'm at that open door again
                walking out and closin' it . . . forever  . . .

Older and wiser and a sad tale you tell. Some people love to wallow in self-inflicted misery, if you slip up momentarily, in keeping them constantly amused. This brought back memories, cheers mate!

Thanks, d. It is very sad when people choose to stay in the safety of a miserable solitude. No thanks. But thank you. Later -

Great advice, wish I had had an open door policy to prevent me from saying "I do" - lmao. Life is wonderful in all its bullshit. This was so well written, as is all your work Sean. I appreciate how you stick to relevant life scenarios that we all relate to so well. Coupled with your down to earth style makes for good reading ;) love and hugs - XXOO Scholar

...this is stark & frightening. very well crafted, a little discomforting. hoping it's purely fictional...

Thanks, 'Blues. Actually it's not fictional, but it is based on an old situation. No worries and thanks again. Later -
