I did not want you
By Beautiful Incidental
I wanted something animate
–
Something
that breathes – bleeds…
Someone to skew the status quo
Of empty infidelity.
I did not want you.
I tried to make
a sculpture –
Chiseled a heart that turned to wood.
But the clay of my soul solidified…
Left my ache the only proof.
I wanted to be…
Interfused with the
unscripted – truth –
Holding its essence with each breath…
So when I spoke – I answered the wind –
And the earth moved beneath
my skin.
They craved the ideal – a compulsive need –
Resistance was futile – they
devoured me…
Cut
fragments for greed – self-validity –
Life sustained in Technicolor images – movies.
I carved an inscription
right before the fall –
A eulogy for an earth spirit’s heart…
When you pass – recognize
me – breathe –
Breathe your life back into me…
I did not want you…
But you breathed.

Astounding. I haven't read anything of yours in so long. This was welcomed.

There were so many amazing lines in this that I couldn't pick a favorite. I felt like I became this sculptress, bringing to life my darkest and most unwanted art while reading this. This poem is incredible and now I'm off to read more of your work.

Sometimes we don't know what we want until we find it, wonderfully wrought work, thanks.
