Nocturnal Pleasure

By Leith Plunkett

Breathing slowly
like a whisper through the ages
inhaling what is left of a dream
long lost to the heavens

Just another of nights shadows
counting stars
before they bleed into dawn

I will not read our book again
the ending is just to hard to take

The transitory nature of the lovliness of night as another day dawns. Suggest something like "without a happy ending" for the last line since the one you used is very popular and in the vernacular as they say. But it does express itself very well and much enjoyed, thanks.

such a familiar feeling you capture so well, that sweet torturous longing of looking back on a past that can never live in the light again. Beautiful and sad, thank you for sharing, and nice to see you back
