Black Door

By Sean Mc Shane

* cue piano . . .

Before we dance to this sorrowful theme
           of another hard goodbye
I want to see your beautiful smile
in a silence that whispers, why ?

on a shimmering Heatwave Horizon
we can recall our first words of Love
chase them over the rolling Evermeadow Hills
and down into the Valley of the Wounded Dove

thru a big Black Door in a long White Hall
to the maze tunnels under Memory Lane
below on going Streets of Fire
fueled by promises wrapped in pain

Move into the black light shadow
carve away the filth given by mistrust
fresh scars come from shattered hope
to remain deep down in unchecked lust

We both pushed and pulled from the side
over the center of a collapsing dream
falling in even harder than before
            that explains the echoing scream

Now we walk this stranger's road
no idea where we are anymore
you on one side - me on the other
now where is that big Black Door ?

we sealed our Fate with our first kiss
the stars hid from us at that time
Astral Lovers who saw our destiny, then
now, wish to hear our last futile rhyme . . .

Lovers doomed from the start perhaps, sorry I missed this one a few days ago. Some stark and uniquely riveting images, well done Sean!

Thanks, Robyn. What a powerful compliment. I'm sorry I made ya cry, but if it was a good cry, then I guess that's okay. Break-ups are hard, but you 're a strong, beautiful gal who writes wonderful poems. So I see you coming out the other end stronger than you thought you'd be. Cool. Til next time -
