Outlaw
By DarkDruidess
I’ve been slipping into
My hillbilly ways
Again, digging deep
Curling my toes in
The forest mud finding
Soothing coolness…
Breathing deep of life
Exhaling release
Of yesterday
Finding the rhythm
Of pride and serenity
In the cry of the hunt
Of owls against the moon
While toads growl incessantly
Towards their love…
Distant thunder rumbles
Promising a brief respite
From the heavy heat
As a beautiful waltz
Plays gently, while
I lean upon your arm
Relaxing against my rock
Safe in my shelter
Relishing in your strength
Assured of a long path
Of unconditional love
And moments of now

Everyone needs some kind of rock, some center, a pillar to lean on. It is remarkable that yours is another person. Not usually a fan of love poems but I really liked this one.
