three seconds of time

By ruthless48

in three seconds of time
your mind met with mine
as her car went past your store
you looked up and locked in
those brown eyes always win
jammed open the door to my heart
the passion overtook me
deranged me and shook me
like it did just from the start
but i had to reach down inside
and slam close that door open wide
a starving animal's self survival instinct
i can't feel any more pain
or it will be like Hiroshima in my brain
now that i'm gone the answer is
clear and distinct
you're in a lifeboat
your wife and I in the ocean blue
there's only one spot open
who will you choose
that third second in space
was the look on your face
when you reached down for your wife's hand
the boat pulled away
an unspoken love though stayed
and i was in the car
driving past you again

I've found myself circling around this.. been here 3 times now. I'm afraid to touch it because I know this situation.. it was felt.

humbled, that's why it hit ink, so it would stop circling around in me, and finally land. thank you truly

Isn't it hard to be the "other" one? They always say they love you, but actions speak volumes. Bittersweet write.
