Season of Death

By jajang829

Aging timbers fell
Up-rooted as the underworld stormed
Thunder echoed across the land
Undulating waters dark with sand
Moving onward the darkness swarmed
Now more than ever

Inside the fire burned
Searing the meat as it turned

The family had assembled
Holding forth the yearly sacrifice
Embracing as the foundation trembled

Screams erupt into the night
Echos of pain and death
Altars of bone rise from the floor
Stained with the blood of those who are no more
Odin himself held his breath
Noone was safe from this plight

Ogres rose and screamed of doom
Fiends rampaged the room

Deaths' servants cackled with glee
Everyone died that hallowed eve
All those gathered not knowing
This Blot would be their last
Heathens take heed

Autumn is the season of death - very unusual and you did well to keep it all together, thanks.
