The Gambler
By Malcholm Dark
I have me a pair of queens
Call them double indemnity.
My love is one without strings
They are both very good to me.
I burned a jack and a king
Call it a double penalty.
Money
made me do this thing
They were very good friends to me.
Jack hunts me now with the king
Call it a double enmity.
Retribution
they shall bring
It's aces over eights for me.
It is
time to play my queens
Call it double inequity.
The sound
their machine gun sings
My pair beats a jack and a king!
I gamble on risky things
Call it my speciality.
And even
when danger rings
My chips are stacked high around me.

.
Yes, my chips are stacked high around
me.

You have no idea how hilariously appropriate the author's note is to me. I could've used a pair of machine gun toting Queens a few times. Surely a pair of aces in the hole. Right on, man!

Seeing as I am a gambling man myself, maybe I should invest in some "feminine touches"? You know, "feminine touches". Make me an offer I can't refuse. Of course, the first inkling of a flush, and I'm folding. Another well wrought work, keep those ladies close, for insurance purposes.
