First Prayer

First Prayer
The Feather of a Seagull and a bit of silver to my Lord-
The glorious hunter and Sea Master, Njordr-
I give praise to thy daughter, so glorious is She-
In song do I pray that my love be with me-
Oh, Goddess of battle who taketh half of the Slain-
I pray to thee that my lady love’s grace I should gain-
To Thee and Thine kindred do daily I toast-
And by Alfadir’s grace may I see the Plains of the Host-
By the side of the Sea do I kneel so humble-
Yet in ice water waves from the cold I not tremble-
‘Tis thee whom I pray to in struggle and strife-
I am steadily Thy faithful in the course of this life-
You who are Goddess both of Battle and Love-
I do ask that thee show me how to win my lady love-
Oh Daughter of my guardian, I give praise to Thee-
Please help me in bringing my fair lover to me.

A wonderful Viking prayer my friend.... I can see Erik the red saying this just before he sets sail... terrific prose, thanks

well written, the verse/meter is discernible, if you were of a mind to measure the lines... the imagery is classic and offers exacting prayer for the age

Oh yes. The old Norse. Love this. Prayer before love & battle. Dig it. Dig it. Dig it.
