This is War
By Frater Synth
Fires burning through the sandy haze of the night sky,
The faint whispers of death floating in the air,
A rain of lead and steel falling from the heavenly sky above,
The screams of the innocent echoing from mountain top to mountain top,
Sounds slowly melt away as focus is given to the task at hand,
The cold unforgiving metal of a rifle pressed to my cheek,
The sound of my beating heart resonates through my body,
I exhale and the world stops to take witness,
Lead exploding from the gentle squeeze of my fingers,
All I hear is the click of the trigger falling back into place,
As life escapes and allows death to rush in,
This is war.

Hello there soldier... First I wana say, much respect and appreciation to your stature and league. I have never read your works before till now. I saw a comment you made for Ryhme yesterday and was moved. I don't know you and you me... But I'm devilish. Spelled my name wrong when signing and couldn't fix it... I can't spell worth a fuck. Anyway I'm seriously sick and dark and perverted with my writing and comments, but never mean any harm... I love this poem right her and I am going to read more. Thank you

Most people I know have not witnessed war, first hand. With all the killing, some one has to live and we forget about the ones that die fighting for the other side. This is a good write, reminds of the saying that there is a war with those that say there is a war and those that say there isn't, keep writing!
