The World's Biggest Lie

By darkness_descends

After thousands of years
And oceans of tears
Famine and war
Death and hearts sore
Time and again
Never will it end
All in the name of a mythical bastard
The so called “Father” of the world
Creator of all good and decent
He who is responsible for every worldly event
But what of lives taken from stones thrown
Cities leveled by bombs dropped
In the name of Him
Some deity unknown
This power that is higher
The world’s first liar
People fighting, killing, dying for beliefs they hold
Never understanding why, only because it’s what they were told
By generations of people who were told
By generations of people who were told
A collection of good sounding fallacies
About an all seeing
All knowing
Omnipotent being
Bearing promises of good fortune
A long and healthy life
Life after death in euphoria if you follow
(Or eternal suffering if you go against Him)
If only you love and fear Him
Believe Him NEVER questioning what He says
By way of his supposed “son”
Who speaks for the “Father”
Void of a voice or corporeal form
As you throw yourself in to the pit of lies
Blindly following
Never questioning
Paying for faith
With but your soul
But all the promises
Are false windows with nothing behind them
Living your life without ever living
In anticipation of the fantastical afterlife
That will never be
When you die
That is it
You are done
All promises recycled
On the next pack of lambs
And never followed through
Going through life
Being scared away from the antithesis of the “Father”
Some mythical red horned demon
Called Satan, Damien, Lucifer
And a multitude of other dark names
Who is at least honest
States that you will have all you desire
In return for your soul
And an eternity in anguished fire
In the last second of your life
And the first second of your death
The realization that life is/was a lie
God isn’t dead
(Nor is Satan alive)
Solely because He never existed
He was just a story
Concocted by the worlds first conman
You lived your life in the shroud of a lie
Only to realize you never lived…
AND THEN YOU DIE!

I think my red rocket is showing! So intense, at one point I actual started reading faster as if speaking in tongues (sweet irony)... If only people thought just a little more about their beliefs and the world around them. Superb! ... "the world's first liar", that line grabbed me and held on tight!

fear of unknown (ie death) makes people do stupid things. you are right, a big waste of time god is for so many. i suppose it gives them hope in a hopeless life.
