This Dying Earth
By HeadpatSlut
This Dying Earth
Though countless eons since have
passed-
This Kingdom standing still the last-
Immune to Rot
and Rust and Time-
Everlasting, here sublime-
But Joy lives
not, under the Throne-
King Sorrow rules this place, alone-
Once
ruled by High King Misery-
Now there is nothing left to see-
Attacked by many, all have failed-
To every shore, his ships have
sailed-
Across the Rainbow Bridge, behold-
And even there, his
name in gold-
For Time has long since left this place-
Where
Happiness has lost its face-
For in this Kingdom, our King Sorrow-
Has left today with no tomorrow-
And War is constant, everlasting-
With batteries of cannons blasting-
As countless swords and sharpened
lances-
Taking lives when given chances-
To spill that salty,
scarlet fluid-
And stain the land that once was Druid-
Before
Opressors ever sought-
To silence all with different thought-
While
soldiers kill each other madly-
And families bury children sadly-
With Iron forged from Dragon’s skin-
Living thus, Immortal Sin-
And ransom paid from kingly purse-
Unable still to break the curse-
With madmen storming city streets-
And the Living suffering defeats-
The Gods above in wasted fame-
All turn their heads away in shame-
As Death reclaims King Sorrow’s throne-
Asleep, this World dies
alone.
