Look Away, Dixie Land
By Malcholm Dark
I can take an axe and chop someone to pieces before your very eyes! (on
paper)
Yet, this is not who I am, I am a man who abhors racism
in every sense. I do not
tolerate people who hate and use
violence to further that hate. this next poem is a
eulogy
for all the haters out there...
.....................................................................................................................................................
"We are the age of
reason, God's only sons
white is right we demand.
We shall
govern our world the chosen ones
look away, Dixie Land."
I was born and raised in the land of cotton
A place
where human rights are long forgotten.
I searched my heart and
made my plan
I saw the light then joined the Klan.
Mexican man... another over spill
He shall accede to
our very will.
To the woods where we let him run
A hunt for
blood, a time for fun!
We took another man, black
as the night
He resisted us well, fought a good fight.
So I
tied him down tight with bailing wire
And tortured him some then
set him on fire!
"We are the age of reason, God's
only sons
white is right we demand.
We shall govern our
world the chosen ones
look away Dixie Land."
Here
at the end my utopical way afflicts me
Be one with the Klan
and live and die in Dixie.
The law wanted our heads and sent
in the best
It ends in gun-play and they lay us to rest!
"We were not enlightened and felt the thunder
all races
united, together they stand.
We now govern our world from six
feet under
look away,
look away,
look away, Dixie
Land."

I've had that bitter taste for a long time, my whole family was racist, I'm the only one that wasn't and having to sit there listening to the bigotry and false superiority. It just made me insane, they were no better than any one man, I guess that's how all racists think though, thanks for sharing.

This one didn't just speak to me, it hit me. It is depressing to admit, but as long as people are different, there will be a reason to torture and murder. Thank you for this one MD.

What a piece here..Liked the topic..I also long to see a day in which people see each other "as" people born under the same sun.

This strikes hard. I'm from the south and I've seen horrid things said and done. After I moved up north, I felt the liberation. Amazing.

I really liked this poem Malcholm. I live in Georgia and I'm kind of ashamed to say that the Klan is still here...My grandfather was actually the leader of the Klan down here...However, they attacked their own race as well. Men who gambled and beat their wives were also victims of the Klan's wrath. I, like you, abhor racism. It's one of the foulest things ever bred in the human minds. Why can't we be seen as people? Equal. I hope one day we're not judged by the color of our skin. I will pray for the day. A fantastic write. Thank you so much for this.

In our world, there is nothing I hate more than racism and fascism. Fuck the Klan, fuck the skinheads, fuck the Nazis, I say death to them all, our world has no place for such bigotry.
