O Great Cthulhu
By Riven Waker
In dearest depths of cthonic sleepwalk slumber
We the neverborn await
time's end
   The summoning
O Great Cthulhu
In
the name
On the eyes
Of Yog-Sothoth
I call you
I
require
Your malign
Might
To lay waste
To the lands
And the walking
Masks
Of the one God
For though your
Purpose is shrouded
Like the mind of a million
Venomous
And vengeful nightgaunts
I offer this soul in sacrifice
Worthless
though it may be to you
Ungodly shadows climb the throne
As fuliginous serpents whence deathsheads intone
Father of All
Hells
summon now the beast
Receive your queen of the frigid east
   At
the winter's feast

When I was in junior high school I read A Shadow Over Insmouth and it left me mesmerized. I had forgotten about Lovecraft but you reminded me. This here is not your average poem. I can't describe exactly what it is, but it makes me want to read Lovecraft and immerse myself in that world where it seems Chaos and Order battle over the reign of the universe.

this is epic, I feel as if this is written from a ancient soul, one who has seen much, out of curiosity the reference to the name "Yog-Sothoth", was that from stephen king by chance?

thank you. Yog-Sothoth, as well as Cthulhu, are creations of H.P. Lovecraft, as far as i know...

Calling them "words" just doesn't do them justice. I was floored. The feeling that this inspired in me is beyond anything. I adore writing like this, when it is done right, and this was right. Everything about it sang in perfect pitch.

These words serenaded me in a choir of sunken stargazers and the drowned decrepit. A very harmonious piece... so full of conviction and something not unlike romance. Enveloping and richly dark. I am impressed and completely awe-inspired. You pulled this off brilliantly. I commend you.
