I am Canadian

By Mithiras

This is to all you Americans!

Hey, I'm not a lumberjack, or a fur trader....
I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber, or own a dogsled....
and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada,
although I'm certain they're really really nice.

I have a Prime Minister, not a president.
I speak English and French, not American.
And I pronounce it 'about', not 'a boot'.

I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack.
I believe in peace keeping, not policing,
diversity, not assimilation,
and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.
A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch,
and it is pronounced 'zed' not 'zee', 'zed' !!!!

Canada is the second largest landmass!
The first nation of hockey!
and the best part of North America

My name is Jerry!!
And I AM CANADIAN!

'zed', definitely. And Prime Ministers rock (mostly)...the English (me) and Canadians know what's what :)

  • A former member wrote: as a canuck... you should know how to spell Molson :P and we all know that if you go east of ontario, the word 'aboot' can be often be heard...but yes, it's great to be Canadian even if we end the alphabet in 'zed'

'zed' is the perfect way to end the alphabet. As an Englishman I should know ;)

Americans own over 270 million guns. roughly 90 guns for every 100 citizens, like me. why taunt the crazies? you remind me of one of those people that go to the zoo to poke the bears. but .... eventually one of the bears snags a passerby and mauls the fuck outta them. haha.

You know that most Canadian teams do not have Canadian players. Most Canadian players are on american teams.

I love that commercial! I used to work in a call centre up here who's clientelle were Americans--Quite often I'd be asked what I thought were the most significant differences between Canadians and Americans and I always answered with, "Not too much difference really--Canadians are a little less patriotic and a lot less armed."--always got a chuckle. And for the record, I'd like to say that I think the average American gets a lot of bad press based on the actions of a few....I very much enjoyed my interactions and was always overwhelmed by the interest my callers had in Canada--I was asked a lot of interesting questions and a few funny ones. Oh, and so many wonderful accents to listen too....those Southern men....delightful!

Thank Goodness! I'm happy to see someone unabashedly saying "I"M PROUD OF MY COUNTRY" I'm proud of mine too, but it seems to be politically incorrect to say so.
