Count My Dead
By shadowsinthelight
Once again, I can’t sleep
Tally my dead, you count your sheep
Why do I care, no escape in dreams
I should know by now
I’m so tired, getting old
Friends are ash or decomposed
Memories choke me with pain
What is, what might have been
Once filled with heaven, now empty as hell
All the myths have been dispelled
The sun refuses to shine
Light is for youth, darkness mine
I feel I can’t I go on
I admit, love is gone
Everything and everyone
So far behind me…

Consider the gathering clouds
Remember a mountain, now weathered down
Don’t waste tears on desolate ground
You should know by now

Glad to see you post, I don't think I've had a chance to see that in my time here. Love your work though. There's always more fire to find in life
