...Lost in the Echoes

By SolApathy

Broken moments of infinite deep
Lines between the seconds-- I wish I could speak
Silent echoes of words never spoken
Lofty goals, broken
Twist of fate as my own misery I make
Dragged into the tendrils of my own mistakes
Borne of the sin of failing once again
I twist within this ill-fitting skin
This mirror reflection of my sin
In the bathroom I pray for the moments I can look away
Not to see the shell that is me
Whispering innocent echoes of poetry-- you’ll never hear
Wrapping myself in my own darkest fears
Blanket of contrition
I wear this cloak of my own decision
Holding all my broken parts hidden deep inside
I walk alone if only to cry
Tears of my desolate condition
Hit the ground in perfect precision
Playing a tune of a soul trapped in this dark cocoon
Plight of a soul under a bitter moon
I know the end is coming none too soon

Trapped in a prison of wordless indecision
This darkness I can no longer heft
I drown in the tears I detest

I think Anna's comment hit it on the head for me. You always have the best ending lines.

In a whirlwind wind of dark emotions we feel we need to escape our bodies to get the freedom we so desire. But that freedom, sadly can only come from the source of our dark thoughts. The peace we seeks lies inside us. I hope one day, it is to be found and kept. Great write!

Eventually, we have to become our own light, to see our way out of the dark. These poems you write are flickers. Keep going...you are worth it. Scholar
