love (simply love)

By FadedBlues

if I start to hug you, I may never stop.

and if, outside our door, there is rain
or snow, we take no notice. in our
small cottage, the sun is shining. we hear
goldfinches singing when there are none.

at our oak table, simple, solid,
we enjoy the feast we've been blest with.
you have lotus tea, coffee for me.
bread of a French design, mild meats,
fruits of our choosing (I like green grapes, bananas;
you, perhaps peaches, or Carlos Williams' cold plums.)

                           *   *   *

in "Bonnard's Nudes", Raymond Carver spoke of the
French painter, Pierre Bonnard, who, over 40 years,
painted his wife as his young, always beautiful bride.
his intrepid love maintained her youth and radiance
in his heart, and in his eyes.

when love is true, it's invincible. nothing, not the
passage of time, nor the aging of the body, nor
the inevitable dissolving of physical beauty, can
vanquish that love.

                          *   *   *

when we sleep, we are wrapped in the comfort of joy
and peace. and now the day, and the poem, have
come to an end.

am I still hugging you?

    this is a beautiful painting by itself, speaking in rich colors and soft rays of sun and moonlight... if only all could know how to paint so... elegant and so deeply felt... if it were me i'd say yes... but then again this is like candy for a romanticist

    Literally I have chills , not very often can I not think of something to say .... beautiful sweet awwwwww these words are not good enough so I will leave some lyrics ..... that come to mind************ many blessings dreams and wishes to you +May you find solace in the gentle arms of sleep Despite the wolves outside your door In time you will see them all as harmless And their idle threats easy to ignore And if ever fate should choose to smite you Stand your ground, never walk away Please don't ever let the world defeat you Don't get buried in its decay As you drift into the gauzy realm of dreams May you take comfort in the thought that you are safe For it only takes a fraction of a second For all of this to change Return to me When slumber's fog has lifted Return to me Stronger than before As you sink beneath the soothing streams of time May you be thankful that you had another day For there comes a time when each of us will enter

    A sleep from which we will never wake And if ever fate should choose to smite you Stand your ground, never walk away Please don't ever let the world defeat you Don't get buried in its decay Close your eyes now, if only for a moment For it's time you get some rest The wolves are gone and nothing here can harm you.....*hugs*
