the Temple Keeper

By mysticventures

There once was a child when born
Who was given a sacred task
To be a temple keeper
Was all that was ever asked

As the child grew to become a man
By life's pleasures he was distracted
His priorities suddenly rearranged
The part of keeper - he never acted

So by his passion he was driven
By his ego led astray
He neglected what was given
Fell the temple to disarray

It wasn't until he was down and out
That he'd realized what he'd done
He only hoped it wasn't too late
To make the damage he'd wrought undone

Now the man pledged to be keeper
Was unsure how to proceed
To sanctify the temple
What would he really need

He prayed for divine guidance
And studied all he could
But it wasn't until he saw the light
That he finally understood

To be a temple keeper
The bearer of the flame
The holder of the keys
Was one and all the same

With new vision and new insight
He began to make amends
To beautify the temple
And rekindle the light within

Now the temple was restored anew
It's light both strong and bright
Drew people from all around the land
To behold this glorious sight

As the people gathered about the temple
The keeper bagan to speak
And as his holy words touched thier hearts
The people began to weep

He told them of faith and love and hope
He told them everything he knew
But the most important thing he told them
Was that they were temples - too
