The Altar

By Zhee

The altar of truth
Lies bathed in fear
Smeared with all the filth
And decay we wear.

Stench of corrupted souls
Embraces all that's dead,
As innocence spills to paint
These white sheets red.

The voices imprisoned
In the subjugated mind
Scream themselves hoarse
As they claw each other blind.

Sacrificed specters of truth
Haunt the shackled mist
As a fountain spurts out
From their shattered wrists.

Bruised and raw
The crippled pleads. . .
Fill your cup -
The angel bleeds. . ..
