Harbored Desires
By mysticventures
Moored
These harbored desires
Are slowly eating away at my soul
Like the ocean's tides on a seawall
Marred
Pitted
Cracking
And crumbling
Yet
To release them
To the ebb and flow of my whims
They would soon rise to become a tsunami of desires
Racing
Raging
Destructive
And unstopable
Until
Having spent itself
What was once a tsunami
Is but merely a ripple on the flooded plains of desire
Softly
Spreading
Wider
And wider
Yes
It's best to keep those desires harbored
Safely sheltered in the bay of tranquility
And I'll spend my days rebuilding the seawall of my soul
Endlessly
Labouriously
Patching
And repairing

isn't it a shame that we can't let our desires run free, and share them? I love the very necessity of this piece, fine write!

Very nicely done... somewhat calming, in these 'troubled times'... it reminds me of a poem I once read with a similar subject, but about a couple mutually controlling themselves and using a fire-water analogy instead. I haven't read you in far too long!
