A Dedication to Friends
By Shadow Fox
I've lived in a deep, dark void
for such a long time.
I sat alone and watched
as the world passed me by.
I didn't want anyone
to keep me company.
Afraid that I'd be hurt again,
I stayed alone. It was only me.
The ones who tried to get too close,
I just kept pushing them away.
Some of them gave in and left,
but a few saw through my mask and stayed.
I wondered why they stayed with me
after all the things I did and said.
So one day I asked them this
and they told me "because you need a friend."
At first I was cautious,
but time passed and I began giving in.
And over time my aching heart
began to ease a bit.
You taught me what it felt like
to be happy once again.
Now I know what it's like
to truly live again.
After all of this,
there's only one thing left for me to do
And that is to show to you...
...my gratitude.
Only one thing comes to mind,
the only one that seems to fit
And as I think back, these words...
"...Thank You..." escape my lips.

Oh, hey fellow Shadow girl! *hugs her from across town* I think I know that somehow this was partially wrote with me in mind, so in return, I thank you as well. Your friend always, Tracy.
