To a Friend

By happilydepressed

The last few drags of a ciggarette
Relishing memories that conjure both joy and regret

Things that might have been
Times I wish never would end

Will I fail at every task
Your wisdom and advice I can no longer ask

I tried to asborb the knowledge you spilt
I tried to instill the respect we built

There's not enough of your kind
A replacement I could never find

I can't lie to myself and say I'll see you again
But if you are somewhere listening, I miss you friend
