red beans and rice under a chandelier

By ruthless48

i can’t believe i’m eating red beans & rice under a chandelier

r r real l l y, dear?

her mother & soon to be ex-husband’s eyes said

we’re so tired of unpacking we’re dead

as in your mansion, the free workers are fed

"I'm so proud of You! You’re a self-made woman!”
i said

knowing hands down my red beans beat Popeyes
street cred

and your future? ... wish you luck with Nana's third eye dread

a smear?

no, i hold you esteemed

estranged
divorced
to claim the future you dreamed

An interesting, voyeuristic penning. Intriguing and satisfying to read. I read it aloud the 2nd time. Best that way. Write on.

Thank you, Alanarchy! Funny how some moments hang in the air long enough to settle into words. Thank you for reading my postcard to the world out loud. Humbled & much respect for your read.
