...Sullen Retrospectives

Burning the burdens of my dreams
The wick burn at both ends it seems
Never enough time to find
Clarity of mind
As I scrape for just a moment in time
Writing theses line I feel myself unwind
Spinning out of control as these words off my lips, roll
I know the chaos in my life and mind is taking its toll
A moment of bliss in that forever second of a long-ago kiss
Framed this memory of a feeling I will forever, miss
I died for this dream of a day that will never come again
Burdened by the sorrows of unspoken sins

They say the candle burns at both ends today
In retrospect it wasn’t always this way
Fall days, long blissful—pure
The leaves fell and smiles stirred
I remember once being the one
Now I write in silence as I am no-one

Take the prose of this page
Does it make you feel love, longing, or rage?
Or just as empty as the last unfulfilling word on this page…
