The Heat of Battle

From my tower
I hear your words,
before no man shall I cower.

You seek my champion,
one pure of heart,
with arrogance you will never win.

With greed lust you attacked,
trying to force down my bridge,
now wounded into a cornor you have backed.

You left your heart wide open,
with patient accuracy I took aim.
I come from a long line of brave and honorable men.

In Valhalla my ancestors wait,
no champion will I send,
today I shall face my own fate.

A single knight rides,
from my broken keep,
through causalties of both sides

No shining armour,
no white horse,
just undying honor.

For all to see head held high,
pure of heart,
prepared to die.

Standing face to face,
My helment I threw aside,
"May I introduce myself, your grace,"

Not waiting your reply,
"I am the heart and soul of this fortress,
today tears of blood I did cry,

You have plundered and raped my land,
weakened my towers,
and now here before you I stand.

throwing down your sword,
I bare my heart,
End this now my lord.

My keep is but made of stone,
my people are my treasure,
tired of this battle I have grown.

Take what you will,
but with your word,
not another man shall you kill."

From the east my army now appears,
I mount my horse,
my banners fly my troop cheers.

"Of our parting songs will be sung,
take these stone walls,
climb my tower rung by rung.

Look out my window,
death you will see
and battles truth you shall know"

Upon my steed,
I rode away
knowing nothing comes from mans evil greed.

I left you in shock,
giving you this land,
but you know now it is just a building made of rock.

It's treasure gone
slipping through your fingers
you realize she will never be a mans mindless pawn.

Ohh my. I didnt trust this work at first. But how foolish of me, this is pure art. It contains it all. And in disguise it is, but not enough to disguise its true feelings. It takes a true bard. I admire this work. ¦Ñªê
