...Guises
By SolApathy
How am I to remember a time without
pain
When in every breath, I relive the shame
A soul that survives only in the dark rain
Cold and bitter, and in it I shiver
Hiding the shaking under the guise of cold
My demons unload around those I know
Pushing them into the folds of my antipathy
(Why I hide from thee)
Taking a hit of weed so for a moment they’ll leave me be
Only it’s not enough anymore
Moved to harder drugs to get myself off the floor
(Only I don’t want to live anymore)
You tell me you’ve been there before & there is a door
A window to escape the pain
If only I’ll care enough to get out of the rain
Can’t you see my love, it’s all I have left?
Without the pain & animosity
I am only a broken breath
A shell-- empty
Repressed
Living a smile I can’t endure
Realizing death; my only

My God, Sol! When the mild drugs quit working, most people do tend to turn to the harder drugs. The promise of even a temporary sanctuary is enough for some. This is very dark, and it shook me a bit. Well done, dearest. Queen Reb:).
