Headhunt

By megaprime81

Their spears cut deeply
Into the flesh
They want my head
So they can shrink it
As a souvenir
Of the kill
Not merely wounded,
But poisoned as well
As I seek a friendly village
I need the antidote
Or I'll die

Am I hallucinating
Or do I see a village
Up ahead?
Someone there
Might have a cure

I trudge along the jungle
Fighting off snakes and lizards
That bite and nip...poison
Acting quickly.... not much further...

My legs feel like lead
Gonna collapse...
But it's so close...
Each step grows heavier
I feel cold, yet my legs
Are on fire
Has to be 90 degrees
But I feel so cold

Miraculously, I reach the
Village; not sure how
I collapse and look...
Once i do...
Then it all turns to jungle
An illusion it was
A hallucination after all
NO! NO! I cry
As the poison takes me down
And my eyes close

The headhunters beat me
Now they'll collect their trophy
After all...as i exhale my
Final breath
As I fade to black
To the hallowed halls of death....

Cool, besides the head hunters this made me think of 'the serpent and the Rainbow' movie. I like jungle scenes.. The visuals were good. Well done:)
