Your Vacant Beauty

By Deathkitten

I drank a bottle of red wine today
A glass a day is okay they say
It's nearing the middle month of may
and i'm running out of words to say
The silence is deafening
The noise wasn't as threatening
No one would ever listen to me
but it wouldn't matter in the end you see
I couldn't be what you wanted me to be
Little red and white lines creeping up on me
Bittersweet bliss made it's way through
and I didn't know what else to do
so I wrote a special letter for you
This is what it says:
To whom it may concern--
I had so much to learn
Like how to live
How to cope
To fight the burn
When to give
and never lose hope
But I will say this
and if for nothing at all
I remembered it well
each time i'd fall
You taught me well
You taught us all
Life is hard
Keep up your guard
Intelligence varies
Karma's a bitch
and the devil likes cherries
Memories go on
Everything I do or say is wrong
I'm always to blame
I have little to no shame
and a few other things
but as sure as this paper is covered in blood
In this bathroom there's a great flood
Your perfect little sunshine
just needed a hug
You've shown her how to be strong
and now she's on her way
to live in a better hell
I have to go now
I wish I could stay
It's peaceful here
in the bath tub I lay
You can take your bow
Sincerely
Your Vacant Beauty
Now go away!

The Devil likes cherries! A new wrinkle on an old theme, can't blame him. A well-written piece and it's just the red wine making you opine. Hugs!

Devils do like cherries. It's so very tempting and they never show any self-discipline. What a shame! Thanks for reading me, Dan. I went MIA. My apologies!

...this is really well done for the nature of it. you could make a living composing suicide notes for highly depressed people (heard that in a movie.)...

damn jess this is really good. I love how you express your feelings in poetry. I read this a couple of times and I could see your emotion building as the poem went on. its really empowering but its also a little sad to think that this is where your mind is. poetry is a very effective and safe way to say what we want and you did it very well. your poem is awesome and what stands out is the raw feelings you captured. rock on jess!
