"Darling, you can't live like this."

By Blood Saga

And she says: "Call me in the morning.
Tell me that you're still alive."

I give her a smile like breaking glass,
and a noncommittal sigh.

She says: "Darling,
you can't live like this."

But in the end she fades away,
like all the others before her.

Nothing here to see today;
she takes the sunlight with her.

Take a train into Manhattan;
fire-birds circling the dawn.

This guy playing a sad song;
pretty soon I'll be gone.

A little closer to a revelation;
on the interstate the exit's too bright to miss.

Smiling when I see the oncoming headlights;
she'd said: "Darling, you can't live like this."

I honestly don't know what this is or where it came from. I kind of blame the Mountain Goats.
