Banished

After sorrow, the gathering
Afterlife, death...a reckoning
It all falls away...then nothing to say
The light of a thousand moons
Shines through the holes in your soul
The light of a thousand stars
Lights the darkness behind your eyes
What pain there is...is another worlds pleasure
What walks upon the sands
Falls through the hourglass of time
Wind blows along empty corridors
A tortured figure frozen forever
In the pose of an endless scream
Worms of graves unopened squirm
Evil sun spreads rays of dark
Twinkling on shards of glass
Along mountains jagged lines
And rivers flow bloodred slow
Where only dead things grow
Here and there a broken smile
Lays sacrificed to the dust
Of endless unspent years
Trick of sight, mirages of bitter tears
Hand outstretched as though to touch
Old bones bleached by the years
Doorways stand upon the ground
That open into dark oblivion
While lunatic laughter floats the air
A stench of flesh now long decayed
Upon a stone a rusted blade
In the air a solid despair
Endlessly I wander this land of old
Forgotten, abandoned, cursed
I was once human, now forevermore
A shadow banished in time...
