Thoughts on Blues and Peace

By Doc

Sleep
It's like some sort of tragic Greek myth
A myth that can only be conquered by finding stillness
Of the mind and body
I never knew the Greeks were Buddhist.

But did Brother Dali ever get any real sleep?
One would think that the masses of Chinese bankers
Might make dreams of pretty things difficult
But I dream of whiskey and starving Bluesmen
Perhaps I can't relate.

But the blues have a lot in common with stillness
Slow, Sad, Liqored Pain.
What's not calm about that?
Well, calm yes.
At Peace.... less likely.

Peace
I can be found in the earth, can't it?
Laying oneself down in the dirt
Staring and the sky
No sound
Just darkness
Mixed up with little bits of light
I think they call those stars
Some call them dreams
I don't know if they are one or the other
But you can never see enough of them

Now, enough thinking
Bring me good blues and a strong scotch. .
