Another Tear Falls

By darkness_descends

Another tear falls
Looking at your pictures on my wall
Still frame memories
Of a happiness past
The only reason I can recall
What you look like at all
Close my eyes
And try as I might
Hard not to cry
You've been faded by time
A smudged finger print
From a hand
That time and again
Ran over the photograph
Trying to remember
To recapture
The feel of your skin against mine
Of my arms filled by you
My heart remembers
And love never fades
Taking comfort in your voice
The only trait I can readily remember
And that too is starting to slip
As we grow busier
Leaving less time to talk
To comfort loneliness
Absorb tears that drop
As my mind slowly loses its clarity
Forgetting what it's like
To lay in your arms
Hold you close
To feel your breath on my neck
Or your lips brush mine
To walk hand in hand
Or breathe in your scent
To sleep and wake
Right by your side
To feel loved.

My love stays strong
And forever will
But every time
My memory gets a bit more cloudy
Another pain attaches to my heart
As my memory fades
I wonder,
How much is left to forget?

Reminds me of rap for some reason. This poem made me feel like I wanted to cry... which is definitely a good thing.

The memories never leave, just void gets replaced. This is a great poem. I can totally relate.
