Masquerading as Me
By scarletara
Is life one long game of bumper cars, without
the cars? Oft a carousel spinning round and round- never going anywhere.
I am not Jack but i am in the box. I am the crazy bird that lives in the
clock. Running in place on life's treadmill..I am a broken toy forgotten
on a dusty shelf. I refuse to wear a mask. I go as myself to the masquerade
we all attend. Meander meaningfully, eyes wide open. Wander the path with
wonder...as if it is not a maddening maze of wrong turns and dead ends.
A mirage will remain the same distance away- no matter how fast u run.
Well balanced sanity or lunacy? Occasionally unsound of mind, going mad
within the madness...truth be told, I'm fond of the mad hatter.
Which side of the glass are you looking through? If I fog it all up, will
it matter if I can't see? Leave the windows open and try every door. Let
the shadows eat your doubt. We lie loudest when we lie to ourselves. So
be true...and unapologetically you. Unashamed- dance with people watching.
Nourished keeping your belly full..of laughter. Soon you will discard
the mask and come as yourself.

Awesome sentiment, esp like the line" you lie loudest when you lie to yourself" so true!!! More ppl should take this point of view to heart ~Ash

Why mask the real you, are you afraid of the beauty that lies within or is there more to this that just hasn't been mentioned. Now as you've discarded the mask hopefully, I'll get to see you for you and only you. Thank you for sharing =)
