Steady decadence leaves a lingering aroma that clings -
I can retreat
to the backdrop and breathe it in - let it diffuse the lungs -
Enter
the bloodstream...
Of course I remember - the salty sweetness
that marked your skin -
The lines of muscle traced - fingertips -
ice blue eyes - no disguise -
The ever-present urgency...
How you enchanted me.
Memories are brand marks - like
the tattoo you insisted I portray -
Your irrevocable justification
proves we've become the same -
Infinitely...
But I lack
the tangible evidence of your existence -
Or am I to be the proof
- your evolutionary plan -
We were a beautiful incidental...
Fascinatingly flawed...
Evanescent.
