Tilt-a-World

By The Lipstick Factor

Have you ever wished you had the power
to tilt the world just enough
to alter the direction of a life?

Slight tip to the right and your best friend's
childhood encounter with the schoolyard bully
never had to be.

Slight tip to the left so
you missed that party
where you drank so much
you vomited up your dignity.

You get the picture.

And you, my friend
with your naive heart,
could i have saved you from the collision
with that bitch who stole your smile?

I saw it coming, that crash.

I was first on the scene and found you
broken, shattered, left for dead.

Two FUCKING years,
two long, tear stained years
we worked at putting you back together again.

There were times we both stopped
believing in the sun.

We finally found all the pieces
and constructed a reasonable facsimile
of the man you used to be.

A copy is never the same as an original
so i keep crazy glue in my purse
for emergency repairs
when your edges start to lift.

And every time i see you, i think
if i had been able to tip the world
just a little
you might have fallen into my arms
instead of the path of her destruction.

This is still so, so excellent. I could hear the heart beat within this.

Amusing thought for the title, and well played write for the work, which shatters the amusement altogether. It almost inspires a "Tilt-a-World" response from me, nowhere near related, but the thought just sticks in my head... I shall have to think on it a bit longer.

Might I add, my favorite work of yours thus far, with the title and the personal touch all wrapped into one, it's one that touched me.
