An Old Friend

By CorruptedLittleGirl

In the semi-darkness of my chamber,
Across a suspended sea of childhood memories,
Your marble eyes implore me to let you go.

My old friend,
Your slumped body has succumbed
To the gravity of what I have told only to you;
Your soul has faded with my years.

But a box in the dusty attic,
Beneath the photo albums,
Is not where you belong.

I wish I had the strength to say goodbye
To your brown fur, white ears, and white snout,
But you’re too special to me,
And I refuse to let the spiders prod your stuffing.

I will clutch you as long as I can.

    Awwww. I have a stuffed alf- remember alf?- that I'm keeping forever. Screw the grandkids, bitches, alf is mine. I don't know if this is the one you mentioned, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. As far as criticism goes.... I loved the underlying message here. Letting go. And the tone and phrasing were good. I can't really call you out on anything, you've thought of everything. So nice work, and write on.

    Awww, 'Stuffing, skulls, and wooden drawers, Your marble eyes implore me to let you go.' That's the most memorable for me. Don't let go. Ever. So beatiful, yet easy to visualize every line, word and feeling. I love it...-Airi

    Hang on forever. After you let go, you regret it.
