The Villain: The Victim
By Deathkitten
Serenity plummets
to depths unknown
Do you hear trumpets
as you sit at your throne
Will you deliver death unto me
or suffer as I gain power
growing dangerously by the hour
Will I always cackle in darkness
pretending to be the villain
so you can keep good name
and try to fit in
Or was I just born
to be that way
To abuse the victim
after each play
There's a shadow of monoliths
blanketing the scene
as turmoil spews
a wish into a dream
Will you selfishly act
on a one-sided stage
to compete with me
in an undying rage
Does it justify your right
to freely lose all insight
Think me delusional
while I inevitably stray
Continue playing the victim
and i'll keep throwing you scraps
but I won't force you to eat them
I'll just keep setting the traps

Everyone knows both sides of this I think, whether or not they will admit it, or even know it. People justify their own actions, makes the sleeping easier. Last four lines hit particularly hard in an all around great poem.
