Fyrdraca

By HeadpatSlut

Fyrdraca

In the farthest Northern mountains-
Where mortals never walk-
With mystic springs and natural fountains-
Where Darkness may not stalk.

There lies a cavern in the stone-
Filled with endless Gold-
And living there, in peace, alone-
In silence, in the cold.

Some say that cave beholds a god-
Still bound in human form-
Some say it is the place where Hod-
Took shelter from a storm.

And every eve, by silver starlight-
Some people hear it roaring-
A legendary beast in flight-
Across horizons soaring.

Through the mountains, clouds, and veils-
Beyond the walk of Bifrost-
Behind it, nothing more prevails-
Eternity is lost.

Breathing flames that cut through ice-
This fire from the skies-
With mortals as his sacrifice-
The Fyrdraca flies.
